I find healing through weaving, braiding, and quilting fiber, beads, and images.
I am experimenting with multiple art forms as portals through which to locate healing. In this season, I feel most connected to fiber and film.
Textiles and thread remind me that I come from a lineage of seamstresses and designers. The sounds of slicing and ripping cue memories of trips to craft stores for fabric. Thumping, clicking, and revving summon visions of my mother at her machine or my pride at being her eyes and successfully threading a needle.
Slow, subtle movement in the worlds around me are reminders of aliveness. I capture these brief moments of life in motion through tilt, static, and long shots because they invite me to take pause and sense. Weaving images sows breath for me.
